Link Golf UK names co-founder Andrew Terry as its first CEO

·

Golf club operator Link Golf UK has appointed co-founder Andrew Terry as chief executive, the first person to hold the role in the company’s history.

Terry, a PGA professional with more than 25 years in the industry, has run the business, which operates seven golf venues, day to day since he co-founded it in 2019. The board said it wanted a single accountable leader to set direction as the group grows across two models and several regions. The company has recently launched Link Club, which works with private members’ clubs, alongside the continued expansion of its municipal portfolio.

Link Golf UK was founded to save Marland Golf Course in Rochdale from closure. Since then it has built a record of turning golf facilities into sustainable businesses by investing capital, managing operations and growing revenue through modernised clubhouses and investment in each course and its machinery. Link Club applies the same approach to private clubs, offering professional management and investment while the club keeps its freehold.

Terry said: “I am grateful to the board for their trust and proud to take on this role. Link Golf UK has been built by a strong team and the credit for where we are today belongs to the people working on our courses and in our clubhouses. My job is to set a clear direction and make sure every venue has the people, investment and support it needs to deliver for the golfers and communities who use them.”

He said the priority for the next 12 months is to bring in the first Link Club partner clubs and roll out the investment that comes with them, including clubhouse renovations, course improvements and machinery.

Andy King, Strategic Advisor and Chair of Link Golf UK, said: “This is an important step in strengthening our leadership as the business grows. Our focus is on supporting our teams, improving our courses and making golf accessible and welcoming. I look forward to working with Andrew to turn that ambition into consistent delivery across our sites.”

Recent investment across the group includes Manjaros Cocktails & Kitchen, which has opened at Middlesbrough Municipal Golf Centre after a £1.2m investment. At Heaton Park in Manchester, the company has refurbished the clubhouse, adding a new bar and an outdoor takeaway hatch, and has improved parking and installed an automated barrier. After a review of course conditions across the group, it has also invested in robotic mowers to strengthen its machinery fleet and improve playing surfaces.

Link Golf UK is also progressing a planning application for a 25-bay TrackMan driving range at Derby Golf Course, and will continue to grow its municipal portfolio.

The company runs a free golf and coaching programme for children aged 16 and under at all of its venues. In 2026 it reached more than 3,500 children, and it won the Golf Foundation’s Stephen Proctor Award for Community Project of the Year.
