London Golf Club in Kent, which has said it wants to host the Ryder Cup in the 2030s, has had planning approval granted for a major expansion of its facilities.
The work will include a new 240-bedroom hotel and spa, to make it a ‘health and wellbeing-focused leisure destination’ in Kent.
The hotel will be on five levels and will have a gym, restaurant and bar.
The venue has called this ‘The London Project’, and it will also see a new wedding venue and turf academy created, lodges, a new driving range and a 3G artificial pitch built, plus the restoration of the Grade II-listed South Ash Manor.

There will also be a training centre, called Callaway Elite Performance Centre. It is set to be one of the world’s premier facilities for tour player support and golf equipment fitting, and will use state-of-the-art facilities.
A pavilion will create access to a range of pursuits including a new natural swimming lake, racket sports and equestrian facilities.
Established in 1994, London Golf Club hosts two championship courses designed by Jack Nicklaus. The club expects to ‘welcome the community’ by 2028.
