Bovey Castle sees 66% rise in members in one year

·

Bovey Castle in Devon has unveiled the ‘Get into Golf’ academy and revealed that golf club membership has risen by two-thirds in just the last year.

It is aimed at anyone aged 16 and under can get to grips with the sport under the tailored guidance of PGA instructors on an 18-hole championship golf course.

It comes as the golf club at Bovey Castle has seen membership numbers rise by 66 percent year-on-year under the guidance of Teignmouth local Rob Selley, who is the hotel’s PGA golf manager.

Rob said: “The interest in golf in general and our course amongst adults is continuing to grow, but we want to ensure that we are bringing through the next generation of players and golf fans too.

“Our junior academy is perfect for youngsters who are keen to learn more about the game in a friendly and supportive environment – which is the most important ingredient for any aspiring golfer.

“We are limiting the group sizes to a small number to ensure that coaching is delivered in a personalised way so that those attending can take away meaningful tips and advice to develop their game further.

“We’re really proud to have seen more locals taking up a golf membership with us in recent years, which has led to a recent £40,000 investment in our new all-weather driving range, and we’d love to see more local children taking advantage of this all year round too.”
