intelligentgolf and EV Charge Point solution provider Chaarge form partnership

·

Golf club software provider intelligentgolf (IG) and electric vehicle (EV) charging company Chaarge have formed a partnership that will make it simple for golf clubs to install and manage EV charging units and bill for them via the IG app.

The installation of EV chargers has been a significant trend at UK golf clubs in recent months.

Chaarge is one of the major installers of these, and now, each of its chargers uses IG software so that golf club members and visitors can either use an RFID tag or scan a QR code in order to charge their electric vehicles.

Typically used by the golf club’s members, the RFID tag is simply tapped on to the unit to start and then again to stop the charging. The cost of the charging transaction is then automatically sent to the user’s account.

“The user can also visit other IG-user golf clubs and, provided we manage the Charge Points there, can use the same RFID tag to charge their car there and pay for it via their home account,” said David Booker, managing director of Chaarge.

Visitors to the golf club, and casual users, are more likely to use the QR code, which can be scanned in via each unit. They can then enter payment details via the Chaarge app, which can also be used to start and stop the charging via the press of a button.

“At intelligentgolf, we’re excited to partner with Chaarge to bring seamless EV charging solutions to golf clubs across the UK,” said Vanessa Machin, managing director of intelligentgolf.

“This integration supports our commitment to innovation, sustainability and delivering added value to clubs and their members both on and off the course.”

David Booker detailed how providing an EV Charge point solution with intelligentgolf worked in practice at one golf club.

“At Beaconsfield Golf Club we installed three 22 kilowatt chargers, and another three dummies, which can be upgraded to full capacity in a day as demand grows. Depending on the vehicle’s battery, in four hours, the time it will take to play an 18-hole round of golf, that should provide well over 100 miles,” he said.

“This club didn’t have available supply for these units, so we also managed the supply and installation of a new 69 KVA supply, which can power up to 12 chargers.”

In addition to this partnership, customers of card payment solution, ClearAccept, which is embedded in golf clubs’ existing ClearCourse (intelligentgolf and Club Systems) software, will have access to exclusive funding opportunities.

ClearAccept Revenue Finance offers a business cash advance – a flexible way to unlock capital tied up in a golf club’s future sales. This offer is available to golf clubs not just investing in EV charging units – but also any new stock, improving cash flow, refurbishing space or expanding in other ways, the funding can help the club move forward without delay.

The process is simple, and funds can be in a golf club’s account within 24 hours.
