A leading Leicestershire golf course, which opened in the early 1990s, has entered administration.
The 140-acre Forest Hill Golf Club is hoping that new owners will salvage it, as the business has been put up for sale.
According to reports, the 35-year-old golf club in the National Forest, appointed administrators from FRP Advisory on June 26.
Although details behind its insolvency were not declared, administrator Simon Carvill-Biggs said “in due course the business will be brought to the market and offered for sale”.
Built in 1991, the popular spot featured a “magnificent” 18-hole championship course set across “140 acres of Leicestershire countryside”.
While the business is awaiting sale, administrators confirmed that the venue “remains fully operational and trading under the control of the administrators”.
More than 600 members currently form part of the club, which is still welcoming new arrivals for the time being.
In 2017, Leicester City Football club attempted to buy the venue for £2.2 million to convert it into a new training ground.
More recently, it tried and failed to build a 98-bedroom hotel.
