J.J. Spaun – From the brink to major glory
J.J. Spaun was battling to keep his PGA Tour card twelve months ago. Now, he’s a major winner. After narrowly losing to McIlroy in a playoff at The Players, Spaun bounced back to claim the U.S. Open in dramatic fashion.
His season includes five top 10s, nine top 25s, and 16 made cuts from 20 starts. It’s the stuff of fairy tales—and Spaun’s story isn’t finished yet with the Ryder Cup on the horizon.
Russell Henley – The comeback continues
Russell Henley’s win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March was his fifth career PGA Tour title and a statement that he’s still very much a contender.
Though he missed the cut at both The Masters and the PGA Championship, Henley finished top 10 at both the U.S. Open and The Open.
Nine top 10s in just 15 starts—including a runner-up finish at the Travelers Championship—make him one of the most consistent players of the year. A Ryder Cup spot now looks all but secured.
