A Leicestershire golf course that closed down in 2016 is to be reopened with a new clubhouse and hotel, and potentially more than 130 lodges and a spa.

The Kyngs Golf and Country Club closed in 2016, but over the last few years Statue Homes has gained planning permission for a new clubhouse and a 50-bed hotel on the site as well four holiday lodges and two subterranean lodges.

Now the company has asked Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council for permission to build a ‘golf leisure and health spa’, as well as 126 holiday lodges. The spa would include facilities such as a swimming pool, as well as hydrotherapy, training and ice plunge pools, saunas, treatment rooms, a gym, dance studio, health and beauty shops and a ‘health bar’.
