Salgados Golf Club in Portugal’s Algarve region is introducing what it describes as Europe’s first operational on-course drone delivery service, allowing golfers to order food and drinks and have them delivered directly to their location on the course.
The new service combines WhatsApp ordering, an AI-powered concierge and drone technology to provide a convenient alternative to visiting the clubhouse or relying on the traditional buggy bar.
The process begins when golfers message the club via WhatsApp. An AI concierge takes their order and sends it directly to Salgados Golf Club’s point-of-sale system. Staff then prepare and package the items before a drone collects the order and flies it to the golfers on the course. Payment is processed through the club’s existing point-of-sale system.
The drone delivery and AI fulfilment network operate locally under their own regulatory licences and approvals, enabling deliveries across the golf course.

Located on the Algarve coast, close to Salgados Beach and the Salgados Lagoon Nature Reserve, Salgados Golf Club features an 18-hole course and is managed by Troon.
The venue is part of a wider resort destination that includes the Algarve Marriott Salgados Golf Resort & Spa, Marriott Residences Salgados Resort, Algarve, and Westin Salgados Beach Resort, Algarve. The properties have undergone redesigns and refurbishments spanning accommodation, public spaces and food and beverage facilities.
