Link Golf UK, formerly called Love Golf, has seen a meteoric rise. Established in 2019 when it saved Marland Golf Course in Rochdale, it then rescued Heaton Park Golf Course in Manchester in 2020. Last year it took on four more golf clubs. Here, we look in more detail at the last 12 months.
Over the past 12 months, Link Golf UK has experienced an extraordinary period of growth and transformation. Founded in 2019 by business partners Joe Jackson, with a background in finance, and Andrew Terry, a PGA professional, Link Golf UK has taken an innovative approach to the game. Moving away from the traditional private members’ model, it is dedicated to making golf accessible, affordable and enjoyable for everyone.
In 2024, Link Golf UK acquired four new venues: Stanley Park Golf Course in Blackpool, Little Links Golf in Lytham St Annes, Tapton Park Golf Course in Chesterfield and Derby Golf Course in Derby.
Each course has undergone significant improvements, with a particular emphasis on year-round playability.
Extensive drainage projects at Stanley Park Golf Course and Derby Golf Course have transformed these facilities. There has been an extensive renovation at Heaton Park Golf Course, where all bunkers have been overhauled with new drainage systems and fresh sand.
“A standout addition to the portfolio is Little Links Golf, an iconic par-three course that has welcomed both locals and tourists for over a century. This historic venue has even been visited by legendary professionals, such as Rickie Fowler, when they competed in the Open Championship,” says Andrew Terry.

“Meanwhile, Tapton Park Golf Course has undergone a complete transformation. The venue has seen major drainage work, improved greens, a revised course layout, investment in new machinery and installation of tracking technology in the driving range, which is also happening at Derby Golf Course. The clubhouse has also been refurbished, with the addition of a stylish new bar area and a fleet of lithium battery-powered buggies. A partnership with The Golf College has recently been agreed and will further enhance the offering, providing young adults with valuable educational opportunities to pursue careers in the golf industry.”
At the heart of Link Golf UK’s philosophy is a commitment to growing the game from the grassroots level. The launch of the Link Golf UK Junior Academy has been a success, with over 1,000 children currently benefiting from free coaching sessions offered every week, 52 weeks of the year.
In addition to the academy, 2024 saw the launch of the Link Golf UK Junior Tour, offering young golfers the opportunity to experience competitive play in a fun and supportive environment.
The tour provides a platform for children to develop their skills, gain confidence and enjoy the thrill of competition across various Link Golf UK venues.
“A key factor behind the success of Link Golf UK is its unwavering commitment to customer experience. Core values such as accessibility and affordability are reflected in every aspect of the business. Unlike traditional golf clubs, Link Golf UK welcomes pay-and-play golfers seven days a week, including coveted weekend morning slots, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the game. A relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and the absence of rigid dress codes further contribute to the welcoming environment that appeals to golfers of all skill levels,” adds Terry.
“We are committed to continuous investment in all of our venues. Future plans include strengthening the fleet of maintenance machinery, further enhancing course conditions, and continuing to improve course playability.
“I am incredibly proud of the work our team has done over the last 12 months. It has been exciting to see Link Golf UK’s portfolio grow at such a rapid pace.
“We have been able to scale quickly by recruiting exceptional people who share our passion for offering accessible and affordable golf to everyone.”
