Golf club leases world’s first robotic golf club manager

·

The world’s first robotic golf club manager has been launched.

KJDY916 can assist golf clubs by carrying out a number of tasks such as managing budgets, disciplining staff and negotiating contracts with suppliers.

The robot, manufactured by Elon Musk’s X Corp, can even play a round with members and is programmed to have a handicap of 12.

The bipedal device, which features an artificial intelligence voice and utilises GPS technology, is set to transform golf club operations.

For example, West Mellington Golf Club in Lanarkshire, which has been trialling KJDY916 for the last few months and has now leased the robot, says it has proven to be extremely beneficial, according to the club’s golf club secretary, David Hall.

“Previously if members had an issue with, say, their scorecard, I could sometimes spend hours trying to solve it when there might have been more pressing issues to carry out around the club,” he said.

“Now, KJDY916 is called and can resolve the issue quickly and efficiently.

“We did have one or two teething issues when the robot malfunctioned and tried to strangle members, but it comes with an app and you just have to learn to input different data into its program.”

Rose Main, a member at West Mellington, said the club has never been in better hands thanks to the technology.

“It’s an extremely impressive back up to the manager, particularly thanks to the artificial intelligence,” she said. “You can ask it anything from today’s course pin placements to your own medical issues, and you’ll get a detailed answer delivered with full confidence.

“The answer is usually wrong and that’s what makes it so realistic.”
