A golf course in Staffordshire could be reconfigured to accommodate the construction of a padel centre.
Beacon Park offers a nine-hole par three golf course but its plan to build the centre has been recommended for approval.
Microsports lodged plans for the northern side of the course.
Permission is sought for the creation of three padel tennis courts, along with a clubhouse building featuring a seated waiting room and an office.
The existing golf course would be reconfigured to create a nine-hole pitch and putt.

A design and access statement said the scheme would “diversify the sports offering at Beacon Park” and “increase the overall leisure opportunities for the local community”.
A report for the committee said the benefits of “delivering such a scheme are considered to be comprehensive, and the harm caused limited in comparison”.
Padel, one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports, is played on an enclosed court about a third of the size of a tennis court. A short, stringless racquet with holes and low compression tennis balls are used, while the service is made underarm.
