The Musselburgh Golf Club in Scotland, which last year was a qualifying venue for the Open, is installing both a biomass boiler to heat its clubhouse and solar panels for its roof, to provide electricity.
The environmentally friendly initiative will allow the club to generate energy, and both save and be paid money.
The 100kW Froling P4 pellet boiler, to be installed and commissioned by VG Energy, will provide a more cost efficient heating and hot water solution to the clubhouse, offices, restaurant and two lounge bars, helping to significantly reduce the annual running costs of the golf club and lower the club’s carbon emissions. In addition to the fuel savings, The Musselburgh Golf Club will also benefit from the income generated via the government-backed Renewable Heat Incentive, guaranteed for 20 years.
The club was built in 1938 after the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers moved from Musselburgh to Muirfield.
VG Energy specialises in the design, supply, installation and servicing of biomass boiler systems.
