Golf club membership in England grew again in 2025 to 750,071 people.
This is the highest it has been for at least 13 years and the extra nearly 20,000 golfers equates to a 2.66 percent rise on 2024.
England Golf says it has seen club membership grow by over 100,000 since 2021 – demonstrating that golf’s boom during the pandemic hasn’t shown any signs of stopping.

Golf club membership saw a large and consistent fall in England for several years, and particularly the five years that followed the financial crisis in 2008. However, it rose slowly from about the middle of the last decade and then sharply amid the Covid pandemic. The latest data also reveals encouraging growth across several key areas, particularly among young golfers. Junior membership surged by over 34 percent in 2025, rising from 46,028 to 61,483.
England Golf junior development manager Laura Yapp said: “We are delighted to see this growth. Clubs are building truly welcoming, inclusive environments where young golfers can grow in confidence and feel part of a vibrant community.”
