Burhill Golf and Leisure Limited, which owns several golf clubs in the UK, has acquired GolfPlex, a modern, entertainment-led golf venue based in Berkshire.
GolfPlex offers a broad range of experiences designed to appeal to golfers and non-golfers alike. Facilities include a state-of-the-art driving range, adventure golf, sports simulators, footgolf and a wide variety of activities focused on making golf more fun, accessible, and engaging.

The acquisition (of Golf Entertainments Holdings, which runs GolfPlex) marks an important step in BGL’s uplifted strategy under new CEO, Simon Thompson, to broaden and strengthen its golf and leisure offering, while supporting its ambition to grow the game through high-quality, innovative experiences. The announcement follows a record year for BGL Golf in 2025, reflecting sustained investment in its venues, people, and customer experience across the group.

GolfPlex will sit within the BGL Golf Division, working closely alongside BGL’s existing venues and teams to ensure strong alignment, shared expertise, and opportunities for collaboration across the group.
Simon Thompson, BGL’s CEO, said: “I’m delighted to welcome GolfPlex into the BGL Golf portfolio. This is a fantastic opportunity for our group and an important step forward as we continue to broaden and strengthen our golf and leisure offering.

“GolfPlex is an innovative, modern venue that brings people together through fun, accessible, and high-quality golf experiences. Their entertainment-led approach complements our existing portfolio brilliantly and supports our ambition to grow the game in new and engaging ways.”

This latest acquisition represents a continued commitment from BGL to growing the game of golf by creating exciting and engaging experiences that inspire both new and existing players. In recent years, the group has transformed its driving ranges across its golf venues into high-tech, entertainment-led environments, complete with enhanced food and beverage offerings and a vibrant sports bar atmosphere – helping redefine how people experience the game.

Alongside this, BGL launched its Pathway to Golf programme in 2025, designed to provide a structured and welcoming route into the sport for the next generation of golfers. The addition of GolfPlex further strengthens this mission, combining innovation, accessibility, and entertainment to bring the great game of golf to wider audiences in new and exciting ways.
