Oxford Golf Club opens new dining facility

·

Oxford Golf Club has completed the first phase of its clubhouse regeneration project, which will enhance the historic course’s ability to host events, private functions and meals out.

The Hill Top Road course cut the ribbon on its new dining facility capable of seating more than 50 guests at a time as part of plans to create a seven-day-a-week, event and hospitality space for local people, groups and businesses.

Plans for Cowley’s brand-new dining spot include Sunday lunches and daytime dining open to the public plus room for private celebrations including birthdays, anniversaries, christenings and engagements.

The completed works form part of a wider project to diversify the club’s existing onsite facilities with the clubhouse’s bar area, used by members and visitors alike, set to be refurbished in 2026 which will include a new accessible toilet.

Steve Greenwood, general manager at Oxford Golf Club, said: “These improvements represent an exciting time for our county’s club.

“Golf remains our primary objective and although we provide an unrivalled playing experience in the heart of Oxford, we recognised the space available at our disposal has huge potential to engage local people, groups and businesses.

“Golf courses have perhaps historically been viewed as a closed shop by members of the public, but those assumptions could not be further from the reality of our operation today.

“Our doors are open to all members of the community and completing the first phase of our clubhouse regeneration is a major step in enhancing our hospitality and catering provisions for those who we welcome through our doors.”

In addition to opening its course 364 days each year, the club also hosts regular charity days, prestigious competitions and provides a pathway for players old and new interested in developing their technique.

The above helped the club achieve its highest membership figures on record at the beginning of the year, with junior participation quadrupling in the last two years.”

Steve added: “We want Oxford Golf Club to be a true, multi-purpose, seven-day-a-week hub where members and visitors can play, relax and dine.

“Our loyal membership base is testament to the club’s commitment to delivering the best experience regardless if a person is playing or celebrating an occasion.

“We look forward to utilising our new space, particularly with Christmas celebrations on the horizon.”

What a great idea. BTW you will also generate a few hundred thousand
pounds more in revenue. If the bar is great it will do more. Matching the hospitality experience to the golf experience will drive more business year round.
Your Yankee cousins are also figuring out the same thing.
    Congratulations
