Saudi Arabia’s Sovereign Public Investment Fund (PIF) has intensified discussions with the PGA Tour over a $1.5 billion deal with LIV Golf.

They recently held meetings in Manhattan to advance negotiations and reach an agreement after blowing past the deadline for a deal towards the end of last year.

The two sides want to finalise an agreement that could see the Saudi wealth fund pump significant funds into a new commercial arm created by the PGA Tour and investors from the United States.

The deal will address plans to integrate tournament schedules and the role of Saudi wealth on the PGA Tour’s board while dealing with antitrust concerns.

However, not everyone is enthused by the deal. Politicians continue to scrutinise Saudi Arabia’s efforts to increase its presence in sports, which many people claim is a ploy to whitewash its appalling human rights record.

Despite the many stumbling blocks left to overcome, it appears both parties have made progress in their talks. Fans will hopefully see the PGA Tour and LIV Golf bury their grievances and resolve the divisions within the sport.

Liv Golf Expands Leadership Team

LIV Golf recently expanded its leadership team by appointing five new general managers. Each one brings extensive experience from interconnecting sectors such as sports, entertainment and media.

They have added some of the best in class to refine their daily operations, sponsorships, marketing efforts and player relations.

Liv Golf will look to take advantage of different means to boost their revenues, and are expected to pursue more lucrative deals with the betting industry.

The competition’s emergence has led to a surge in betting activity, with Arab players eager to profit from their game knowledge.

Punters have been scouring respected betting comparison platform arabswin.com/ to find the best sportsbooks where they can wager on golf tournaments.

LIV Golf will explore ways to tap into this new betting activity. They could partner with sportsbooks or create their own platform for LIV Golf matches.

The new GMs must leverage their experience to drive their teams’ growth and long-term success and partnerships with betting operators could help them achieve their goals.

LIV Golf wants to make its tournaments a global spectacle and its teams the most revered in the world, and the expertise of these international executives can help them achieve their goals.

Former Chief Executive Officer of Mojang Studios Jonas Martensson will head Cleeks GC. Mojang is famous for developing Minecraft, the best-selling video game ever.

Martensson always had an entrepreneurial spirit, co-founding Swedish apparel Happy Socks and Mobilebet while serving on the board of firms such as Finnair and XL Media.

The Swede is tasked with building Cleeks GC into an outfit recognised in every corner of the globe and developing a team that plays excellent golf.

Martin E Kim has come into the fold to run Iron Heads GC. He has a background in Major League Baseball and eSports and will bring a different approach to establishing the team as a giant.

Kim also worked with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Gen.G eSports. He has the CV to lead international marketing efforts and manage players. His first duty will be to expand their presence in Asia and drive long-term success.

The first of only two new GMs with golf experience is Jeff Koski, the former senior vice president of Golf at SPORTFIVE. He will lead Legion XIII, an outfit captained by former world number one Jon Rahm.

Koski wasted no time settling into the new role. He has helped the team secure some exciting partnerships and his arrival also saw them improve on the course.

He wants to revamp Legion XIII’s brand, strengthen its connection with the fans and consequently position the team as one of the powerhouses of professional golf.

Ripper GC also has a new GM – Nick Adams. The Australian held senior roles at ESPN, WME/IMG, Yahoo and other renowned organisations.

Adams knows how to make high-profile events more commercial and drive growth. He will need that skill as Ripper GC looks to expand its presence in Australia and develop a sustainable commercial ecosystem for the team.

Richard Glover has been appointed to oversee Stinger GC, bringing two decades of experience from the ATP Tour and other top sports organisations such as Premier League club Arsenal.

Glover will help develop Stinger GC into a strong brand with global appeal while keeping its proud South African identity.
