Politically incorrect golf: Top 10
8. Steve Williams, 2011. ‘It was my aim to shove it right up that black arsehole’
Steve Williams, who has caddied for Greg Norman, Tiger Woods and Adam Scott, may be the world’s best caddy, but he’s not going to win any awards for diplomacy.
He had already courted controversy for comments about Phil Mickelson, which included the line ‘I wouldn’t call Mickelson a great player, ’cause I hate the prick’, when he made his most infamous statement yet.
When talking about the rivalry between his former boss, Tiger Woods, and his current employer, Adam Scott, Williams told an awards ceremony in China: ‘It was my aim to shove it right up that black arsehole’.
Williams later apologised and Tiger said he was ‘certainly not racist’.
